DIMAPUR — The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of Nagaland government and the NSCN (IM) held a consultative meeting on the prolonged Naga political talks on Wednesday at the Police Complex in Chümoukedima.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the discussions centred on the delay in the talks and the proposed constitution of an apex committee for negotiations.
“We are discussing why the talk is delayed and the constitution of the apex committee for discussion, that is in negotiation. So after that, talks will start,” Rio said.
NSCN (IM) leader VS Atem said the meeting was focused on the ongoing Naga political dialogue.

Asked whether the issue of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) had figured in the discussion, amid a separate meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on oil and natural gas exploration on Wednesday, Atem said it had not.
“There was no talk about the ONGC. Nothing,” he said.
Atem also declined to comment on recent remarks by former Chief Minister SC Jamir concerning the Naga political issue.
“We have no comment. They are not authorised people, mandated people. They are just talking for the sake of talking,” he said.
NSCN (IM) leader RH Raising described Wednesday’s engagement as a consultation rather than a formal meeting.
He also criticised Jamir's recent statement, saying, “He is not an advocate of the Naga people. We know that from the very beginning.”
Raising further said the prospects of a final Naga political solution depended on New Delhi.
Asked when a final solution could be expected, he said, “It depends on Indians, not on us. The ball is in their court.”
Rio declined to comment on Jamir's statement, saying the party had already issued a statement on the matter.
