Dimapur, October 30: With the aim to bring all the Naga tribes under one roof, to know the new faces and to exhibit the athletic abilities and sportsmanship, Naga Students’ Union Bangalore organised Sports Meet on October 28 and 29 at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, Near KR Puram Cable Bridge, ITI colony, Bangalore. Tangkhul emerge as the overall champions while Poumai bagged the second position. In football, Tangkhul tribe won the coveted football trophy by defeating Zeliangrong in the final. In men’s volleyball, Mao team beat Zeliangrong by a narrow margin and emerged as the wining team, while in women’s volleyball, Tangkhul beat Anal and Maram (combined) in the final. The basketball match was won by Angami team. Tug of war, Arm wrestling were also part of the event. The organisers said each member’s presence has enforced the family bond and unity among the Nagas, which is the ultimate motive of this event. “It keeps the fire of the Naga spirit alive and that goes a long way in creating a positive precedent for the juniors to forge this eternal family bond among the Nagas where ever they are, whether at home or outside”, added the organisers”.
