The Naga Students’ Federation is holding a candlelight vigil in Kohima on July 9 to demand justice for six slain Naga individuals.
KOHIMA — The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is organising a candlelight vigil on July 9 at Phoolbari Junction in Kohima to express solidarity and demand justice for the six Naga individuals who were recently murdered.
The vigil programme is scheduled to begin at 6 pm. In an update, the NSF called upon the public to express sorrow and stand in solidarity with the grieving families.
It appealed to students, churches, tribal bodies, civil society organisations, and concerned individuals to stand in unity to safeguard dignity, identity, and morality.
“The brutal killing of six Naga brothers in the Naga homeland has deeply saddened us all. We firmly condemn and call upon the law enforcement authorities for a thorough, transparent, and expeditious investigation to bring all responsible individuals to justice,” the NSF stated.
The federation added that the Naga homeland is known as a place where different communities, traditions, and religions live in peace and mutual respect, welcoming every person without prejudice, regardless of belief, race, and background. It stated that the spirit of harmony has now faced a serious concern.
