DIMAPUR — The Inner Line Regulation Commission (ILRC) of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has submitted a reminder to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, seeking an update on the ten-point memorandum concerning the implementation of the Inner Line Regulation (ILR) in the state.

The original memorandum was submitted during a meeting with the Chief Secretary held on April 4.

In the reminder letter issued to the media on Tuesday, the NSF stated that the memorandum addresses critical concerns related to the enforcement of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system, which, it said, is vital for ensuring the socio-economic security of the Naga people.

While affirming that it does not seek confrontation with the government, the NSF expressed confidence that the state leadership “is wise enough to read the ‘Writing on the Wall’ — the consequences of lackadaisical implementation of the ILR in Nagaland.”

“The NSF is of the considered opinion that stringent enforcement of the Inner Line Pass system is essential to the socio-economic security of the Nagas. To this end, the NSF is committed to enduring any hardship to achieve this security, especially for upcoming generations of Nagas,” the letter read.

Expressing willingness to extend full cooperation to the state government if required, the NSF requested the Chief Secretary to provide an update on the action taken in response to the memorandum at the earliest convenience.
