
KVSU officials and others during the NSF Martyrs’ Trophy
Tour at Baptist High Kohima on Friday.
- KOHIMA — The
Kohima Village Students' Union (KVSU) on Friday displayed the NSF Martyrs’
Memorial Trophy 2025 at Baptist High Kohima auditorium, as part of the ongoing
the 25th edition trophy tour.
- Baptist High, erstwhile known as Baptist English School, is
the alma mater of Late Kekuojalie Sachü, one of the two NSF martyrs.
- The students observed a moment of silence in remembrance of
the martyrs.
- Kiyakhrienuo Solo, KVSU general secretary, acknowledged the
school authority for hosting the event in a grand manner despite the short
notice.
- Weto Losou, Vice-Principal of Baptist High led the service
while Rev. Dr. M. Savi, Managing Director Baptist High delivered welcome
address.
- Khriesaneikuo Kire, KVSU president, briefed the background
of the trophy.
- The Trophy is organised in honour of Kekuojalie Sachu of
Kohima village and Vikhozo Yhoshii of Kigwema village, who fell victims to the
indiscriminate firings of the armed police, when the students' fraternity, on
March 20, 1986, were on a peaceful duty call of the Naga Students' Federation
(NSF) to register resentment against the state government's decision to the
extension of Disturbed Area Belt from 5 km to 20 km along the Indo- Mymmar
border and against the induction of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre in
Nagaland.
- Meanwhile, the trophy will be displayed at Thevokemouzhie, L
Khel on March 22 and will later be handed over to the Kigwema Students’ Union
on March 23, the home village of Vikhozo Yhoshü.
