DIMAPUR — As part of an ongoing effort to ensure effective implementation of Inner Line Regulation (ILR), the Inner Line Regulation Commission of Naga Students' Federation (NSF) held a crucial consultative meeting today in Dimapur with representatives from the Bhojpuri Samaj and Bihari Samaj.
A press release from the commission stated that the interaction enabled it to receive suggestions, concerns and recommendations from the two organisations, which would form an integral part of its study in framing comprehensive recommendations for a transparent, practical and effective implementation of the ILR.
It maintained that the consultation process has, from the outset, been guided by the principles of transparency, inclusivity and equal opportunity, with official invitations extended to all stakeholders concerned.
Reiterating the position of the NSF, the commission stated that Nagas are the only indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland and asserted that the implementation of the Inner Line Regulation is intended to safeguard the historical, political, demographic, economic and cultural rights of the indigenous Naga people within the existing constitutional and legal framework.

At the same time, the commission acknowledged that some non-Naga organisations may have been unable to participate in the consultations due to unavoidable circumstances.
It invited such organisations to approach the NSF office at the earliest so that consultations could be arranged as part of the ongoing stakeholder engagement process.
The ILRC expressed appreciation to the Bhojpuri Samaj and Bihari Samaj for their participation and valuable contributions, stating that it remains committed to an objective, credible and inclusive consultative process aimed at strengthening the implementation of the ILR while protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the indigenous Naga people.
