KOHIMA, AUGUST 30: THOUGH not a definite time-frame has been mentioned, Advisor of National Socialist Women’s Organisation of Nagalim (NSWON), Ikhres Muivah today said, there is a possibility of a hopeful solution to the protracted Naga political issue very soon. However, she added ‘we cannot say when that will happen, but there is a possibility of a solution. That is very sure’.
She said this while speaking as a resource person during the co-ordination meeting with the Angami Women’s Organisation on the theme ‘Strengthening of relationship’ at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima. The programme was organized by National Socialist Women’s Organisation of Nagalim (NSWON).
Attributing the discord, disunity and misunderstanding among the Nagas to misguided and false rumors, Muivah asserted that Nagas, irrespective of tribes and parties must come together in one accord, reason together and stand in unity for our ‘Nagaland for Christ’.
She also maintained that now is the ‘good time’ that God has given the Naga people to come together and to forgive and forget the mistakes of each other, which she said is very important as ‘harvest is near’.
Acknowledging the sacrifices of the Naga freedom fighters, Muivah said their sacrifice is not for self or the tribe alone, but for the whole Nagas. Therefore keeping in mind their struggles and sacrifices, Muivah said, it is very important for the Nagas to stand in unity and join hands together at this crucial juncture.
Appreciating Late AZ Phizo for his contributions and sacrifices towards the Nagas’ struggle for political freedom, Muivah said the Angami tribe is a very important part of the Naga history of political struggle, and has thanked the Angami community for its leadership since the beginning of the Nagas struggle for sovereignty.
She also informed that NSWON has plans to meet other tribal women organizations in the coming days to strengthen the relationship between the Nagas, through the support and prayer of the women.
Also speaking at the meeting, Eustar Chishi Swu, Advisor NSWON, wife of Late Isak Chishi Swu calling the Angamis as ‘brave and courageous’ has sought the support and cooperation of the community to join hands together for a permanent settlement to the protracted Naga political issue.
Maj Singyaola Zimik, chairpersons NSWON asserted that ‘Nagas struggle for sovereignty is not a choice but a birthright of the Nagas’ to bring peace in the land, progress and prosperous in our land.
Today’s meeting was moderated by Chonthingla Shimray and Asui Muinao, which commenced with Mingthingla Khamrang, chairperson Widow’s Federation invoking God’s blessings.
