SENAPATI, SEPTember 26
Naga Political Leaders Forum Manipur (NPLFM) has been floated in order to give new impetus to the ongoing Naga peace process. The United Naga Council (UNC) took the initiative to form the Forum.
Naga political leaders irrespective of political affiliations participated in the formation, claimed UNC president Gaidon Kamei.
After the formation the NPLFM took two resolutions.
The first resolution is to welcome the August 3 ‘Framework agreement’ signed between the government of India and the NSCN-IM. It decided to urge the Government of India to bring permanent peace regarding the Naga situation at the earliest.
The second resolution is to work for the tribal unity of Manipur and also to oppose the three Bills fervently.
The NPLFM then strongly condemned the Churachandpur incident where 9 ‘innocent’ people were killed by the Manipur security forces.
Naga Political Leaders Forum Manipur (NPLFM) then appreciated the four NPF legislators, Victor Nunglung, L Dikho, Samuel Risom and Alexander Pao for tendering their resignations to “protect the rights of the tribal people.”
Today’s meeting also appealed all the remaining Naga legislators in Manipur to follow suit at the earliest.
