Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): To stabilize the situation in the India-Myanmar border, the team comprising of 11 members from the Naga Public Organisation (NPO) and Naga Students’ Organisation (NSO) undertook a journey from April 5-25 starting from Khamti towards Taka. A press release informed that the team met with the NSCN-K leaders and deliberated about the difficulties faced by the people living in the border area and urged upon them to consider the grievances of the people.
“It is sadden to learn that while feathers of the same bird enjoy peace lavishly in the mainland, the inhabitants of the border area are facing acute shortage of peace,” the press release stated.
According to the updates, the team urged upon all the armed forces to respect and heed the tears and sweats of the people.
The press note said that the team had, so far reached out to four gate-way: Hazik-Laju; Khanmoi-Longwa; Punyu-Pangsha; and Shera-Awakhong. They met the Indian army commander along with chairman and village chief and elders of both sides.
In the updates, besides several fruitful discussion, the team headed by the deputy secretary of NPO, Y Khomong, and the president of NSO, T Mankhat Konyak rendered request especially to the Indian Army and government. They said that, checking is a duty, however, unless a person is found with illegal activities, allow people to meet their relatives. They request also not to disturb four wheelers carrying construction materials and alike and allow two wheelers to traverse till Noklak, Mon, and Phungkhuri.
In the updates, they acknowledged the Indian side and concerned commanders concerned for their warm welcome and cooperation in considering the issues. They conveyed hope that peace will reign as they joined hands in search of peace.
