DIMAPUR — To provide premium organic food products sourced from the farms of Nagaland to customers and food enthusiasts scouring for Naga organic food products in Delhi, an outlet was inaugurated by Joint Resident Commissioner (JRC), Nagaland House New Delhi, Sharon Longchari, on Wednesday at Humayunpur village, Safdarjung, New Delhi.

According to an update, the ‘Naga Organic - Delivery Point’ outlet at Safdarjung, Delhi, will act as a delivery point and display hub of organic products, an initiative under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to promote organic farming in NE states.

Longchari during the inauguration said that setting up the outlet in Delhi is a significant milestone, as it will connect the farms of Nagaland to the markets of Delhi.

She said that it will allow potential buyers to view and assess high-quality organic products firsthand, and once orders are placed, they will be fulfilled directly from Nagaland – ensuring freshness, authenticity and seamless delivery.

She also commended the Green Caravan, a market linkage and resource institution, and empanelled service provider under the Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, for their ongoing guidance across training, certification, infrastructure use and market linkages, which she mentioned has been instrumental in bringing the initiative to this point.

She added that such an initiative will help ensure that farmers from the Northeast will become not just producers but successful entrepreneurs with direct access to urban markets like Delhi.

At the store, one can get a variety of food products sourced from 17 farmer producer companies from Nagaland. Some products that are available are dried Naga King Chilli from Peren and Niuland districts; ginger candy from Longleng district; single-origin Arabica coffee from Tuophema village; foxtail sticky millet from Meluri and Mon districts; Naga Jobstears from Tseminyu district; Schezwan pepper, sumac powder, and turmeric powder from Mokokchung district; soybeans and perilla paste from Tuensang district; and wild apple candy from Khonoma village.

The outlet also plans to include more products in the near future. The outlet is located at House No. 71D, Nanz Store Ground Floor.
