- DIMAPUR — The
Naga National Council (NNC), Government of the Democratic Republic of Nagaland
(GDRN) (Non-Accord), has clarified the “factual circumstances” leading to
President Kiumukam's termination from his post and membership in order to inform
the Naga people.
- In a press release, the group stated that Kiumukam was
ousted from the presidency on February 5, 2025, due to his anti-government and
anti-people policies and actions. He was also alleged to have misused
government machinery as though it were his personal and hereditary property,
defying all rules and regulations under the constitution.
- It further stated that regarding the accusation and the
maligning of Ato Kilonser Shehoto I Yesca's physical and mental health,
Kiumukam himself inducted Shehoto I Yesca into his council of kiloners and
elevated him to the post of Ato Kilonser. However, it regretted to say that
Kiumukam is now attempting to malign him in order to cover up his own acts of
omission and commission.
- It went on to mention that Kiumukam was impeached earlier in
2016 for financial embezzlement but was saved through the patriotic support of
a few courageous leaders who stood behind him.
- Stating that the NNC/GDRN (N-A) does not belong to Kiumukam
but to the Naga people and that it shall remain so, it added that issuing
statements and intimidations is not in its interest.
- It further stated that the NNC/GDRN (N-A), led by President
L Shiludi Longkumer and Ato Kilonser Shehoto I Yesca, does not subscribe to
intimidation, extortion, or coercion, but instead accepts voluntary
contributions and support from those who understand the Naga national cause.
