DIMAPUR — The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has urged the governor of Nagaland to order an impartial and speedy investigation into the brutal murder of 22-year-old basketball player, Vihozhonu Zao, whose body was found near a ring well at Old Minister’s Hill, Kohima, on October 25.


In a memorandum submitted to the governor, the NMA demanded that the perpetrator be brought to justice and awarded befitting punishment under the law.


It further appealed to the state government to ensure that the rule of law prevails and that justice is delivered without delay.

Naga Mothers’ Association seeks Defence Minister’s intervention over alleged drone strike


Expressing shock and anguish over the killing, the NMA stated that the “heinous murder committed upon our daughter has shattered us beyond imagination.”


The association also called upon the government to adopt effective preventive measures to curb violence and killings in the state, while urging citizens to shun violence and uphold peace, safety, and respect for human life.


Extending solidarity with the bereaved family, the NMA conveyed its heartfelt condolences and reaffirmed its stand to pursue justice.
