DIMAPUR — The body of a man from Nagaland was found hanging inside a hotel room near Lassi Wala Chowk in Ludhiana, Punjab, on October 10 morning under mysterious circumstances, according to a Hindustan Times report.

It identified the victim as one Hutovi Sema, who had reportedly returned from Kashmir recently, where he was employed at a hotel before resigning.

He had checked into the Ludhiana hotel on October 7.

According to the report, suspicion arose when the man did not respond to repeated knocks on his door.

The hotel manager then broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling fan, with blood splattered across the room, raising doubts of foul play.

Police from Division Number 1 station arrived at the spot and sent the body to the civil hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Inspector Rajinderpal Singh, SHO of Division Number 1 police station, told HT that an Aadhaar card recovered from the room confirmed the deceased’s identity.

CCTV footage from the hotel is being examined to establish the sequence of events. Preliminary inquiry indicated that the deceased had been staying alone since checking in, it stated.

The SHO said further investigation is underway and action will be taken based on the family’s statement.
