Dimapur, July 13(EMN): Two Naga lads, who won at the I Compete Natural (ICN) National Cup Bodybuilding Championship, held in New Delhi from July 9 to the 10th were felicitated upon their arrival at Dimapur Airport by the Nagaland Body Building and Fitness Association on Wednesday.
Toshiakum Ozukum won first place in men’s classic physique (under-23) and men’s physique category (U-23), while Athrong Zeliang secured third place in street model category and second place in men’s physique (first timer category).
During an interaction with media persons, Ozukum shared that he was nervous but once he got into the stage, he was determined ‘to give his best and not compare himself with anyone else’ and went on to win two gold medals.
He expressed that his journey was “quite well” because he had been preparing for the competition for 3-4 months and cited that he expensed more than INR one lakh during his preparation as he was strict about his diet as well as supplements, believing in himself that ‘he can achieve something’.
The expense was borne by his parents and some of his friends, he added and informed that he will partake in competitions again in the coming days.
Ozukum is under the mentorship of Kenny Soru, who won silver medal in men's athletic physique category at 13th Mr India Senior National Body Building and Physique Sports Championship 2021.
Meanwhile, Zeliang, who is from Peren, shared that he was always interested in body building since childhood and seeing other body builders motivated him to train. He also expressed his gratitude to everyone who believed and motivated him.
This is my first time taking part in competition and my goal is fully focused on fitness. I want to dedicate myself and compete in the body building, he added.
