Dimapur, March 7 (EMN): Zenwang Konyak, son of Thomwang Konyak and a Botany student from Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, has secured the Top 3000 amongst overall 15,000 participants from all over India at the Smart 50 competition for start-ups held in New Delhi from February 26 to 28.
In the competition, Zenwang presented his research on bio-insecticides and bio-pesticides in treating vegetable crops and flowers using biological extract from a plant, which can kill or resist pest that affect crops.
In a press release, Kohima Science College Students’ Union secretary of Science Club, Keyileurangbe Thou stated that Zenwang was awarded with cash amount of INR 50000 from Amazon Web service, a certificate from IIM Calcutta, free membership from TiE New Delhi, and financial assistance and mentorship from Global Entrepreneurship Programme by IBM.
The participation to Smart fifty was sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Government of Nagaland, and co-sponsored by Department of Botany, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
Smart fifty is a nationwide startup competition organised by IIM Calcutta in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, which aims at hunting for smart solutions that can transform India with sustainability, motivating, affordable, responsible and transformational with focused areas in smart learning, smart agriculture, smart money, smart sustainability, smart living and smart health.
