
Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): A Naga lad has completed Search and Rescue Training, a prestigious mountaineering course, from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) Uttarkhashi in Uttarkhand and has been awarded with Alpha Grade.
An update received here on Friday informed that Khrieketoulie Kintso aka Ketou Kintso of NAAME was one the three trainees from the Northeast who had successfully completed the course at NIM.
Kintso was the first person from Nagaland to serve as an instructor in Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) in 2018 and 2019, it was informed.
He has also completed Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC), Advance Mountaineering Course (AMC) with alpha grades from National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (NIMAS) Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh; and Method of Instruction (MOI) course with Alpha Grade from Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling.
‘The Search & Rescue Course is the most challenging among the mountaineering courses as it involves Himalayan high altitude technical rope access on rocky cliffs, snow, crevasses, glacier, accumulated knowledge of first aid, navigation, audio and visual communication signals, evacuation methods through helicopter for immediate evacuation of casualties and also deployment of dog to find the casualty,’ informed the update.
