Naga Indigenous Inn-cum-Learning Centre was inaugurated at Phesama village to preserve Naga heritage and promote cultural tourism.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, inaugurated the Naga Indigenous Inn-cum-Learning Centre at Phesama village in Kohima district on June 17, marking a significant step towards preserving, promoting, and documenting Naga indigenous heritage and traditional knowledge systems.
According to a press release from the department, Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Art & Culture, Bodeno S Colo, attended the inauguration as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Colo stressed the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge, cultural practices, and traditional values for future generations.
She expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) and the North Eastern Council (NEC) for supporting the project, and highlighted the centre's potential to promote cultural tourism, indigenous studies, experiential learning, and community-based economic development.
She also acknowledged the contributions of the engineers, architects, technical personnel, village authorities, community leaders, and the executing agency for their dedication in completing the project.

Presenting the technical report, Executive Engineer, Art & Culture, Kakheli Swu, outlined the objectives of the project and its key infrastructural features.
Speaking on behalf of the executing agency, M/s Delie Metha & Son Enterprise, Metekhriezo Patrick Kuotsu thanked the department for entrusting the firm with the project.
He also expressed gratitude to the chief minister for his support and appreciated the cooperation extended by all stakeholders in the successful completion of the project.
Director, Art & Culture, Adela Moa delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the dignitaries, officials, stakeholders, and participants for their support and contributions towards the successful completion and inauguration of the centre.
The department stated that the inauguration of the Naga Indigenous Inn-cum-Learning Centre reflects the Government of Nagaland's continued commitment to safeguarding the state's rich cultural heritage while creating opportunities for learning, tourism, and sustainable community development.
Earlier, the programme, chaired by Deputy Director, Art & Culture, Teisovikuolie Therie, began with the unveiling of a commemorative stone monolith and the ceremonial ribbon-cutting.
