BOTSA — The
Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba, on Tuesday urged
everyone to prioritise their identity as Nagas first, followed by their tribal
affiliations, stating that reversing this order hinders unity.
Speaking as the special guest at the inaugural programme of
the 33rd meet of the Northern Angami Youth and Sports Association, Group-D
(NAYSA-D), at Botsa ground, he emphasised the importance of preserving the
cultural values instilled by ancestors, parents, and churches to ensure a
brighter future.
Acknowledging the state's untapped resources, he expressed
hope that Nagaland would eventually attract significant investments to explore
its rich potential and appealed to the public to support the government in
creating a vibrant and self-reliant Nagaland.
Stating that participation is as important as winning, he
congratulated NAYSA-D for organising a well-structured event and praised the
promoters of sports for their achievements. He commended NAYSA-D and emphasised
that peace and unity are crucial for the progress of Naga society.
Encouraging the sportspersons, Temjenmenba urged them to
strive for excellence, aspiring to represent Nagaland on larger platforms as
ambassadors of Naga culture, unity, and positivity. He also expressed optimism
about Nagaland's potential under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
He stated that the state government is working towards
bringing Nagaland on par with the rest of the country and aspires for it to be
among the best in the nation.
In his presidential address, Neikeso Zumu, president of
NAYSA-D, highlighted the events being conducted, including the NAYSA
Presidential Football Trophy for men and women and belt wrestling. He commended
the participating teams and advised players to maintain discipline and give
their best.
The inaugural programme was led by Kezhangulie Kire, general
secretary of NAYSA-D, while Rev. Levi Rio, pastor of Chiechama CRC, invoked
blessings at the start of the event. A special song was performed by
