Calls for emergency presidential meeting to discuss election of new leaders
Dimapur, Nov. 22 (EMN): Seeking to close the book on one of its most controversial chapters, the Naga Hoho has called for an emergency presidential council meeting on Nov. 26 to discuss the election of its new set of leaders.
For more than two years now, the Naga Hoho has been reduced to a sinking ship after some of the tribe units, especially those from Nagaland state, dissociated due to issues involving the current Naga Hoho leadership.
“The tenure of present incumbent has come to an end and we are unable to elect the new team owing to various factors. Notwithstanding, our conscious (sic) does not allow to leave the office or dismantle Naga Hoho without handing over to the new incumbent considering the magnitude of its responsibilities at this crucial moment.
“Admitting our weaknesses and failure to carry forward the mantle of Naga Hoho to the expectation of all for which the president and all the executive members tender our due apology to all the Naga Hoho members, past leaders and tribe hohos for our limitation and inadvertent errors that might have committed while trying to discharge duties and responsibilities. We strongly commit and resolves (sic) to keep up the tradition by installing the new set of leadership whom we hope and assure our fullest support in fulfilling the aspiration of Naga people,” read a statement from the Naga Hoho vice president on Thursday.
As such, it appealed all the tribe hoho presidents and well-wishers to attend the emergency meeting on Nov. 26 at 11 am at Hotel Japfu in Kohima. “The meeting shall deliberate particularly on the succession of new Naga Hoho team.”
