Naga Hoho meets Assam CM to discuss on bilateral ties

Dimapur, August 24: The Naga Hoho delegation met Chief Minister of Assam Sabarnanda Sonowal at Brahmaputra State Guest House, Guwahati on a goodwill visit on July 22. The Hoho team led by its president P.Chuba Ozukum apprised the Chief Minister on the formation and objectives of Naga- Assam coordination Forum, which aims to foster better relationship and understanding between the two neighboring states. The Hoho team also briefed the Chief Minister on the ongoing peace process and political situation in Nagaland. “We also sought co-operation and helping hand from Assam in bringing about Indo Naga political settlement at the earliest with a view to usher in peace in the entire NE region,” Chitho Nyuso Secretary (Adm) in a statement said. On the illegal immigrant issue and its mounting problem in the North-east, the Naga Hoho advocated for better coordination and joint effort in checking and flushing out the illegal immigrants from the two states. Highlighting on the age-long border dispute of Assam and Nagaland, the Naga Hoho pointed out to the Chief Minister that the problem can be resolved only through political will of both the states. Extending support to the Naga people living in Assam, the Naga Hoho requested the Chief Minster to be supportive by providing economic development, infrastructure, connectivity and human resource development in NC Hills and Rengma Hills.
