Dimapur, October 1 : The Naga Hoho has conveyed through visiting Myanmar Naga leaders an appeal to NSCN (K) leader SS Khaplang to renew the ceasefire with the government of India.
Leaders of the Naga Hoho said to have had “an interaction” with visiting leaders of the Myanmar-based Naga Yuya, Council of Naga Affairs (CNA), and the Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA), on October 1.
A note from the organization on Saturday stated that the interaction was at the Hotel de Oriental Grand in Kohima town.
The Naga Hoho said to have conveyed ‘through the visiting team’ a message to SS Khaplang, the chairman of the NSCN (K) to “reconsider the wishes and aspiration of the Naga people living in India and thereby renew the cease-fire agreement with the government of India in the larger interest and unity of the Naga people.”
The delegation from the two sides ‘expressed paramount need to work for unity among the people both in India and Myanmar,’ the note added.
Also, the meeting “deliberated on the strengthening of Naga organisations both in India and Myanmar and also to have better co-ordinations and unity among the Nagas across the border. The visiting team also invited the Naga Hoho and its federating units to visit Naga areas in Myanmar during their New Year festival and have a joint meeting and interaction with the people,” the Naga Hoho stated.
