- DIMAPUR — The
second federal assembly of Naga Hoho, hosted by the Joint Council of Zeliang
& Rengma Assam, was held on Friday at Tourist Lodge in Dimapur. The
session, which was a closed-door event, went for five hours.
- Interacting with media persons after the conference, the
convenor-cum-advisor of the Naga Hoho’s Political Affairs Committee, HK
Zhimomi, while not divulging in detail about the meeting, said that they had
about seven agendas, including the “nitty-gritty among office-bearers.”
- “Unfortunately, there were some differences within the
executive, and the house clarified it as one should forgive another and go
together as one body. That was the main thing that we discussed today,” he
said.
- According to Zhimomi, the Naga Hoho is going to write to the
government of India on the Free Movement Regime issue.
- Affirming that all is well between the Naga Hoho and Nagas
of Manipur, he said that the assembly was held among 16-17 units, which means
“we are united, except the hohos of Nagaland.”
- Responding to a query on the relationship between Naga Hoho
and tribe organisations of Nagaland, he said: “Under the provision of Article
16 clause 44, it is said that even if your tribe did not nominate you, if your
service is required by the Naga society, you can be a member.”
- He, however, admitted the desire to improve the relationship
and wanting to see that all come together.
- “But I cannot force anyone; otherwise, there is nothing
wrong with the Naga Hoho coming together. We have been appealing and are still
appealing that all must come together at this juncture in particular. Even the
government of India is blaming us for not solving the problem because of our
disunity,” he asserted.
- On the absence of United Naga Council (UNC) from the
consultative meeting on the Naga political issue organised by the Nagaland GB
Federation Peace Committee (NGBFPC) on March 20 in Dimapur, the UNC president,
NG Lorho, responded that because of short notice they could not make it.
- Another reason, as stated by him, was that “it did not come
through proper channel.”
- However, he said that whatever the NGBFPC has done, they do
not have any objection.
