DIMAPUR — The NSCN (K) faction led by Yung Aung has accused Indian security forces of conducting multiple drone strikes at two locations in eastern Nagaland targeting the ULFA-I and NSCN camps in Hoyat and Pangsau area.
In a press release issued on Monday, the group claimed that the strikes occurred between 2 am and 4 am, which resulted in the death of several individuals, including senior ULFA-I leader Lt. Gen. Nayan Asom.
The group described Asom as a committed revolutionary figure who played a crucial role in the armed movement for Assam’s independence and called his death a tragic loss not just for ULFA-I but for all “oppressed Wesean nations.”
“NSCN/GPRN strongly condemns this atrocity and pay our deep homage to all the brave fallen leaders and injured comrades. We extend our deepest condolences and solidarity to the ULFA-I and join them in their grief and loss on this tragic day.
“In the past few months, GOI has also intensified its brutalities on the NSCN/GPRN cadres as well, with killings and military assaults persisting unabated,” the statement read.
It warned that the use of advanced technology and weaponry by the Indian government would not secure control over the region.
“If India thinks she can wage an unjust war through the power of her sophisticated weapons and technological advantage and maintain her hegemony over the WESEA region, she is greatly mistaken,” it stated.
