Naga Gaon fire leaves scores homeless

- DIMAPUR — A
devastating fire that occurred at around 11.30 am on Wednesday razed around 40
houses at Naga Gaon in Dimapur.
- The flame is suspected to have been ignited by an electrical
short circuit.
- According to West Dimapur Fire Station, the exact number of
the affected families could not be ascertained yet as most of the occupants
were out of town and the property was on lease.
- An entire stretch of thatched houses was reduced to ashes.
The owner of the house from where the fire started was not home at the time of
the incident.

- The West Dimapur Fire Station received the distress call at
11.49 am. Six fire tenders—three from West Dimapur station and three from
Central Fire Station—eventually doused the fire, a task that took them around
three hours.
- A firefighter lamented that because of the narrow lane it
took them time to reach the spot. There was no report of casualty.
