- DIMAPUR — With an
objective to empower fish farmers with scientific fish farming technique and
have access to government scheme, the Naga Farmers' Union (NFU) conducted a
one-day training-cum-awareness programme on March 6 at Jalukielo village
council hall under Peren district.
- An update from the union stated that the programme was
conducted in collaboration with the National Fisheries Development Board
(NFDB), North Eastern Regional Centre, Guwahati, and Seemanta Chetana Mancha
Purvottar Nagaland State Committee.
- The event was attended by Ashim Kr. Borah, senior executive
(technical) and officer-in-charge of NFDB North East Regional Centre, and the
fisheries officer of Peren district.
- It stated that the fisheries officer shared words of
encouragement and motivated the farmers to adopt modern techniques and to avail
government support for sustainable fish farming.
- A total of 85 fish farmers attended the training, where they
received insights on ‘Scientific fish farming techniques,’ ‘Water quality
management and disease control,’ ‘Government schemes such as PMMSY, PM-MKSSY,
NFDP, FIDF, GAIS, and KCC’ and ‘Methods to access subsidies and financial aid.’
- It stated that the initiative was aimed at bridging the gap
between fish farmers and government resources to ensure long-term
sustainability and improved livelihoods.
