Dimapur, Jan. 17: Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) on Tuesday resolved to give the state government 2 days’ time to postpone the elections to urban local bodies in Nagaland. This was decided during a meeting of tribe union office bearers and DMC aspirants – called by the NCD – on Tuesday at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur. Sources said that the NCD decided to go to any extent to prevent said elections, in case of the state government failing to postpone it. Out of the 60 DMC aspirants, 43 including 3 from East Dimapur Town Council attended the meeting. It was informed that 10 of the DMC aspirants agreed to withdraw their candidatures. The NCD also reiterated its previous resolution to boycott the elections, and appealed the candidates to withdraw their nomination papers.
