Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has said in a statement that it has resolved to oppose the shifting of Deputy Commissioner (DC) office from Dimapur to Chümoukedima at its executive meeting held on September 10. Stating that the “present DC office is strategically located” and convenient to the general public, the NCD said “the move to shift the public office will cause various negative impacts to the lives of citizens of Dimapur.” “The NCD is also not in favour of the new nomenclature being used which is read as DC Chümoukedima Camp Dimapur erstwhile DC office Dimapur,” read the statement. “NCD is also appalled to learn that a contractor has locked the PWD building due to non-clearance of pending bill by the government and there are indications that the PWD land and building will be auctioned off to public,” it stated. It went on to urge the department to clear the pending bills at the earliest and cancel “all illegal government departmental land encroachers patta.”
