The forum expressed dismay to observe that only some minor/ patch work was carried out by the concerned department in the recent past. It added that the bridge appeared to be losing its life due to quarrying activities in the past and negligence.
The forum, in a joint press release issued by its president, Kakishe Shikhu, and the press secretary, Saul Sema, stated with the only road in shamble and bridge in dire need of repair, the citizens of the newly created district and its surrounding areas of Wokha and Tseminyu are left high and dry for want of good road and safe bridge. It also reminded of the tragic collapse of a bridge at 4th Mile and the subsequent sufferings faced by the commuters.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The forum felt that providing basic infrastructure such as good road is needed for all round development and added that the denial would be tantamount to crime.
In the light of the above stated circumstances, the forum has appealed to the concerned department to address the issue before any tragedy strikes.
