NAAC gives Kohima Science College A grading

Kohima, May 3 (DIPR): In the 24th meeting of the standing committee of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, held on 2nd May 2017, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma (KSCJ), was awarded A grade with 3.42 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The CGPA is as per the revised grading system which took effect from 1st July 2016. Since then, 1235 colleges have been assessed by NAAC all over India. Out of these, 343 colleges have been graded A or above with 302 colleges in A, 39 colleges in A+, and 2 colleges in A++ Grade. As per the present list issued by NAAC, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, stands at 46th rank in the entire country which falls within the top 4% colleges of India. Further it may be mentioned that at present KSCJ stands 6th in the whole eastern and north-eastern region of India and 3rd in the northeast after Cotton College, Guwahati, and Pachhunga University College, Aizawl. According to the revised grading system of NAAC, a college obtaining CGPA of 3.01-3.50 is graded A, 3.51-3.75 is graded A+ and 3.76-4.00 is graded A++. Those colleges obtaining below 3 points are graded B++, B+, B, C or D. The NAAC peer team visited the college during 11-12 April 2017. The peer team consisted of Prof Mohammad Raziuddin from Jharkhand, Dr KN Guruprasad from Madhya Pradesh, and Dr Gourang Chandra Mohanty from Orissa. Dr I Anungla Aier, the principal of KSCJ, has expressed acknowledgement of the support and cooperation from various stakeholders, especially the state government, chairperson and members of the governing body, alumni association, parents-teachers association, Jotsoma community, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and the KSC students’ union.
