- DIMAPUR — MY Bharat, an initiative of the
Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, has launched a
nationwide campaign encouraging young citizens to enrol as civil defence
volunteers.
- The move is part of a broader effort to empower youth to
take on critical responsibilities during emergencies and crises, according to
an update.
- The initiative seeks to build a trained, responsive, and
resilient volunteer force capable of supporting civil administration in
situations such as natural disasters, accidents, public emergencies, and other
unforeseen events. MY Bharat aims to strengthen national preparedness by
mobilising a community-based response mechanism amid rising security concerns.
- It was stated that civil defence volunteers play a key role
in assisting local authorities with a wide range of services. These include
rescue and evacuation operations, first aid and emergency care, traffic
management, crowd control, public safety, and support during disaster response
and rehabilitation.
- In light of this, MY Bharat is reaching out to its existing
network of youth volunteers, as well as new applicants, to register as civil
defence volunteers.
- Registration is available through the official MY Bharat
portal at mybharat.gov.in.
