Dimapur, Aug. 18 (EMN): The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has updated that the component-wise amount approved for the state of Nagaland under Annual Programme Implementation Plan (APIP) 2020-21 for implementation of Anganwadi services is INR 16121.57 lakh.
This was revealed in the APIP 2020-21 for Anganwadi services under Umbrella Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme.
An amount of INR 3556.62 lakh was approved for the state under APIP with Centre’s share of INR 3200.96 lakh. A total of 150 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) were approved for upgrading at a cost of INR 300 lakh, it was informed.
According to the report of the MWCD, 450 AWCs were approved for drinking water facility in the state at a cost of INR 45 lakh and INR 108 had been approved for providing toilet facility to 450 AWCs.
Construction of as many as 525 Anganwadi Centres was approved under MGNREGA with Government of India’s share of INR 525 lakh.
The cost sharing ratio between the government of India and the state for anganwadi services, salary, supplementary nutrition programme (SNP), upgrading of AWC building, construction
of toilets, and proving drinking water facilities is 90:10.
The report stated that construction of AWC buildings in rural areas should be taken up by the states/UTs in convergence with MGNREGA while the states/UTs are also advised to tap the funds for providing toilet and drinking water facilities in AWCs under CSR activities, Swachchh Bharat Kosh and Panchayati Raj institutions.
It also affirmed that for recruitment to the posts of Supervisor, guidelines issued by MWCD to fill up 50% posts of Supervisor from among the eligible Anganwadi Workers (AWS) would be followed and that 25% posts of AWS should be filled up from amongst the Anganwadi helpers who have put in minimum 10 years of satisfactory service and also possess the requisite qualifications laid down by the concerned state governments/UT administrations.
The APIP 2021-22 also had guidelines for submission of APIP under Anganwadi Services for 2021-22 which also stated that the package of following six services was provided under the Anganwadi Services scheme SNP; pre-school non-formal education; nutrition and health education; immunisation, health check-up, and referral services.
As per the MWCD, Nagaland’s specific issues and observations was that it reported no vacancy at any level and also proposed to construct 525 AWCs under MGNREGS during 2020-21.
“A discrepancy was seen in the number of beneficiaries as stated by the state in monthly progress report and the proposal submitted by the state. The state was asked to rectify the same. The state also informed about the liability of last year under training programme and the secretary clarified that there will be on induction training,” the MWCD stated.
