Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): Mimi Village Council (MVC) has expressed disappointment over the deplorable road conditions in the area, which has been ‘neglected and abandoned’ due to apathy of the department concerned for the past many years, thus causing immense hardship to the commuters and general public.

Chairman of Mimi Village Council (MVC), K Yasangwu, and the VDB secretary, T Ashimong, stated that the neighbouring villages covering 7 villages were totally cut off by heavy landslide between Khongjiri and Mimi village due to heavy rainfall on May 30 last.
The village council stated that the road, constructed by BRO way back in 1992 and left in 1997, was left unattended/ abandoned for the past so many years.
Observing of the suffering of the peoples, the villagers have been maintaining the road without any assistance from the department, it said.
The Mimi Village Council has appealed to the PWD Department to take appropriate measures against the road on priority basis and construct/ maintain the road at the earliest for the welfare of the general populace. It added that neighbouring villages are trying to clear the road through contribution/ donations.
