Kohima, Aug. 22 (PTI): Muslims in Nagaland celebrated Eid ul-Adha with religious fervour and with sacrificial offerings on Aug. 22.
Thousands from the Muslim community residing in and around the state capital Kohima and commercial hub Dimapur marked the day by performing special ‘namaz’ at idgahs in the two districts.
Nagaland Governor P B Acharya and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio greeted the people during the occasion.
Eid ul-Adha is also known as the festival of sacrifice or Bakrid and Eid ul-Azha.
The governor conveyed warm greetings to the people of Nagaland and wished for harmony and brotherhood in the society.
Acharya hoped that the sacred occasion would usher in goodwill and harmony besides strengthening the values of composite society everywhere.
"May this Eid bring you cheer, peace and happiness and may it foster goodwill and brotherhood," Chief Minister Rio tweeted.
