Speaking to Eastern Mirror—coincidentally on World Music Day—Meru said that he was grateful for the opportunity to serve Nagaland and fellow musicians. “I will give my utmost best in the duty assigned to me,” said Meru. He further thanked Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for placing faith in him. Meru had won YouthNet’s Trailblazer of the Decade award, participated in international events such as VROX (Russia), Edinburgh Fringe and Tattoo (UK), Jakarta International Fest, Sarang (South Korea), Master Art Workshop (Hong Kong); and is an alumnus of Discover Israel and International Visitor Leadership Programme in the US. Meru has also directed music, art and cultural events in Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, USA, Indonesia, South Korea and several others in India. In a press conference, the MTF said that the department has plans for an eastern Nagaland tour including Longleng, Mon, Kiphire, and Tuensang in the month of October. During the tour, the team will conduct workshops on sound management, music training, vocal training and others. Rio in a twitter post wished Meru success and hoped that his experiences would help music and the arts grow in the state.
