KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 28: Several music and arts institutions in Kohima on Wednesday honoured an educationist, Dr Mego Haralu, with a musical event in the capital town.
The event was a collaboration of the Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü Üsou Memorial School, Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Nagaland College of Music & Fine Arts and Blackrose Euphony Music Store organised a programme ‘An evening with Dr Mego Haralu’ at the Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü Üsou Memorial Hall in Kohima town this evening.
Dr Mego Haralu is a dean of International Education at the Center for International Education. He supervises operations at the CIE and provides leadership and supervision for international operations at Campbellsville University.
Speaking during the occasion, Dr Haralu said he wanted to be of service to the Nagas, as a Naga living in the US. Stating that Nagas were blessed with ‘so much talent,’ he opined that it needs ‘to be showcase to the world.’
Highlighting his university, Dr Haralu said there were only two Naga students from among 3, 500 students, and encouraged those interested to study abroad for any assistance and guidance. He spoke of interest ‘to do some collaborative projects with the music schools in Nagaland in the future.’ He claimed that ‘people are interested to come here, investigate and learn the indigenous secret music of the Nagas.’
It may be added that Dr Haralu has extensive cross-cultural experience that spans the globe. He has done cross-cultural philanthropic work and ethnographic study among the Hindus and Muslims in Nepal, Bangladesh and India, the Aborigines in Victoria, Australia, the Africans in Chad, Africa; the Chinese in Guangchaou, China; the Tibetans in Arunachal Pradesh, India; the Burmese in Myanmar, the Central Americans in Quepos, Costa Rica; the Mayans in Guatemala; the Ojibwe Tribe in Minnesota and the Onondoga Tribe in New York.
