Three-day training programme for teachers on music education commences in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — A three-day training programme for teachers on music education organised under Samagra Shiksha, in collaboration with Yamaha Music India, commenced at Morung Hall, Directorate of School Education, Kohima, on Monday.
Director of School Education, Razouseyi Vese, in his address, highlighted that the training programme marks the first partnership with Japan, a DIPR report stated.
He recalled the strong historical bond between Japan and Nagaland since World War II, when Naga villagers warmly welcomed Japanese troops as friends. He said this friendship is now being strengthened through music education.
Vese urged teachers to make the most of the opportunity and guide children beyond dependence on government jobs.
He emphasised that music can open up better opportunities and create brighter futures for students.

The department also assured full support in working together for the children’s development in music education.
Speaking on behalf Yamaha Music India, Ryoji Maruyama, Sales Unit Head of Yamaha Music India, shared that Yamaha Music India was established in 2008 with the vision of contributing to people’s well-being through music and providing quality music education across India.
He said that music has the power to inspire, connect, and shape lives.
Expressing happiness at seeing children in Kohima enjoy music, Maruyama said the project would help shape their future.
Stressing that teachers play the most important role, he encouraged them to fully engage with the system and enjoy the learning process so they can better guide their students.
Risaka Tokoro from Yamaha Corporation’s Music Popularisation Group presented an overview of the music education programme.
She shared that Yamaha launched the initiative in 2015 to introduce music education in public schools, particularly at the elementary level.
The programme is active in several countries, including Egypt, Colombia, and Vietnam. She expressed hope that it would help strengthen music education in Nagaland and enrich students’ lives through music.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Dr. Kevizakie Rio.
