Dimapur, Jan. 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from ward- 19 for the forthcoming DMC polls, H Hokivi Chishi, on Friday renewed his commitment to working for the welfare of the people of the ward.
Addressing hundreds of people during his ‘candidature declaration programme’ at New Market in Dimapur, Hokivi said he was overwhelmed by the support from the people owing to which he could ‘give a facelift to the New Market area by requesting the authorities to look into several issues.’
“I have been living with you for the last 20 years and have a sense of satisfaction working for the welfare of the people,” he said.
Hokivi expressed his desire to put in more efforts to work towards progress and development of ward-19 if the people voted him to power.
Stating that he would stand for ‘responsibility and good governance,’ Hokivi appealed to the voters of ward-19 to extend their support and cooperation.
Intending candidate from ward-19, Joseph Sumi, who withdrew his candidature to support Hokivi appealed the people to vote in favour of the latter.
Representatives from the Muslim community, Nurul Haque; Marwari community, Shivpal Joshi and Bengali community, Dipak Acharjee, also spoke during the programme.
State and district BJP leaders, and intending candidates including Vikheho Zhimo, Ikato and Meweu Lasuh attended the event.

A brief meeting of independent party workers of ward no 2 at Zakiesato colony, Golaghat road in Dimapur was held ‘to have interactions with colony members.’
Later, time was given to Haotinmang Aman Hangsing, an independent candidate who assured the people that he will help the ward in whatever way he can. He also said to have grown up in the same colony for which he was also the ‘best person to understand their problems.’ He appealed to the colony’s members to vote for him.
