KIPHIRE—Seyochung village and Akashvani Kohima jointly celebrated Mungmung 2026 at Seyochung village on Friday, bringing together villagers, visitors, cultural groups and members of the Seyochung Village Union from different towns.
The celebration showcased the rich traditional culture and heritage of the Sangtam community through a range of traditional activities and performances.
The activities included Phishü Khidong, Longmikhi, Machi Khidong and Fürü Thsü Khudong (traditional folk songs); Xuh la Müraküduba (bamboo pole climbing); Rangshü zing mülitaba (tug-of-war); Mihlaa mülihtaba (traditional method of making fire); and Shong ngumülitaba (top-spinning).
Speaking at the celebration, Seyochung village council chairman Lichothri Sangtam said the partnership between Seyochung village and Akashvani Kohima was a step towards preserving and promoting traditional culture through continued cooperation.
He welcomed the citizens of Seyochung and thanked members of the Seyochung Village Union who travelled from different towns to join the celebration.
He also welcomed tourists and visitors from different states and places, expressing hope that their visit would leave a positive impression and encourage more people to explore Seyochung.
Officials from Akashvani Kohima expressed gratitude to the village for its warm hospitality and cooperation. They also appreciated their visit to the Mithun farm at Singtra, describing the experience as extraordinary and the traditional methods of preserving the community's cultural practices as impressive.
The Akashvani officials encouraged Seyochung's cultural groups to visit Kohima for recording and assured that their travel and other expenses related to the recordings would be covered by Akashvani Kohima.

They further appreciated the enthusiasm of the people of Seyochung in welcoming guests and celebrating Mungmung, expressing hope that the festival would strengthen the partnership between the village and Akashvani Kohima and create more opportunities for cooperation in the future.
