A free multispeciality and cancer screening camp at the Health and Wellness Centre in Peducha benefits residents of multiple villages.

DIMAPUR — A free multispeciality and cancer screening camp was held at the Health and Wellness Centre in Peducha village, Kohima, on April 26.
According to an update, the camp catered to the residents of multiple villages, including Peducha, Kiruphema Basa, Kiruphema Bawe, and Mengujuma.
With 200 registrations, a total of 521 free consultations across various specialities, including general medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, paediatrics, ophthalmology, and dental care, were conducted. The camp also provided free blood tests, ultrasonography, ECG, and minor procedures.
Additionally, 140 free cancer screenings for oral and cervical cancer were carried out, while free medicines and spectacles were distributed to the attendees.
A total of 30 medical personnel, comprising 10 doctors from Putuonuo Hospital, Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), and private clinics, along with 20 paramedical personnel from Putuonuo, participated in the camp. They were joined by eight social workers from the Dr. K and T Keditsu Foundation and the entire staff of the Peducha Health and Wellness Centre (HWC).
During the event, a brief session on oral health and cancer awareness was chaired by Neikuonuo, Community Health Officer of Peducha. Dr. Neilakuo Kire, Orthopaedic Surgeon at Putuonuo Hospital, introduced the medical team.
Dr. Meribeni Odyuo, retired Director of Dental under the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, spoke on the importance of oral health, while Dr. Neiphrezo Sorünuo, Dental Surgeon at NHAK, highlighted the risks and symptoms of oral cancer.
Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu, Managing Director of Putuonuo Hospital, delivered a special address. Words of gratitude were shared by Peducha village elder Kekuolhouca and Dzüviu Zhünyü, Village Council Chairman of Kiruphema Bawe.
The camp was organised by the Dr. K and T Keditsu Foundation, a registered public charitable trust founded in 2016, in collaboration with the National Oral Health Programme under the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare.
The initiative received support from the Biocon Foundation, Bengaluru, and Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima.
