As of Dec 2024, Nagaland has multiple road projects underway, including six CRIF projects, eight state road improvement projects and eight EI&ISC projects.

DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) in its report for 2024-2025, updated that in Nagaland under the state PWD, six development works spanning 116 km and costing INR 1,113 crore are in progress under Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), and 8 works costing INR 272 crore for improvement of state roads, as of Dec. 31, 2024.
Additionally, eight works costing INR 327 crore are in progress under Economic Importance and Inter-State Connectivity Scheme (EI & ISCS).
NHIDCL is enhancing international connectivity between Nagaland and Myanmar via Avangkhu, with ongoing work on widening the Akegwo-Avangkhu section of NH-202K to a 2-lane road, facilitating connectivity between Nagaland, other NER regions, and Myanmar.
As per the report, the project road would be open to the public by FY2025-26.
The total length of national highways in North-East is 16,125 km and these are being developed and maintained by four agencies - the State PWDs, BRO, NHAI and NHIDCL.
Of the total length of 16,125 km, about 6,844 km is with NHIDCL, 6,787 km with respective state governments, 778 km with NHAI, 1,228 km with BRO, while 488 km is yet to be entrusted.
Nagaland has 12 national highways — NH 2, 202, 702, 702A, 702B, 702D, 29, 129, 129A, 229, 329A, 202K — with a total length of 1,670 km.
The Ministry, it maintained, has been paying special attention to the development of national highways in the North-Eastern (NE) Region and 10 % of the total budget allocation is earmarked for NE region.
The MoRTH awarded 27 projects during year 2024-25 in the Northeast region with a total length of 526 km at a cost of INR 5,884crore.

However, as per the report, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura did not receive any projects, while Arunachal Pradesh topped the list with 15 projects, followed by Assam with nine projects, Meghalaya (2 projects), and Mizoram (one project).
The Ministry further updated that it had signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with state governments of Assam, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh for implementation of ropeway projects under Parvatmala Pariyojana.
According to the report, Nagaland generated INR 1.69 crore from national permit fees and INR 15.36 lakh from All India Tourist Permits (AITP) between March 2024 and December 2024.
