
MOKOKCHUNG — Incessant rains over the last couple of days have triggered landslides at multiple locations in Mokokchung, hampering vehicular movement on the national highways connecting the district till Thursday evening.
Landslides and mudslides were reported at three locations on NH-61 (Mokokchung to Amguri) -- at 168.5 km point between Yisemyong and Mongsenyimti, at 164.5 km point, and at Yisemyong. A house and an Anganwadi centre were damaged by landslide at Yisemyong.
On the NH-702D (Mokokchung-Mariani) four landslides were reported at 39 km point, 42 km point, 43 km point and 46.7 km point just after Changki X junction, an official informed.
Traffic on both the highways, which were disrupted by the landslides, was however restored by late evening, sources said.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In Mokokchung town, one house was completely damaged while another was partially destroyed at Marepkong Ward and another house was also damaged at Sangtemla Ward.
The District Disaster Management Authority along with the district administration took stock of the damage caused by the landslides.
