Mokokchung, Feb. 3: K Taliakum Pongen (1982-2017) is described as an active social leader, a humble and dedicated teacher, an active Christian youth, and a musician. He always stood for truth and integrity, said glowing tributes from people attending a funeral service that was held for the demised youth leader at the Indian Oil Junction in Mokokchung on Friday.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life attended the funeral service, which was organized by the youth organization, the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, to bid adieu to their late general secretary.Family members, presidents of the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, the Mangkolemba Ao Lanur Telongjem, the Ao Senden, the Watsu Mungdang, the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang, the All Ward Union of Mokokchung Town, and friends paid homage, delivered farewell speeches and dedicated songs to the departed soul.
Various speakers at the funeral described that late general secretary of the MTLT as a benevolent person who was actively involved in important public issues. His benevolent character to help people cannot be measured, they said.
Condolence messages from the Mokokchung district deputy commissioner, Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem , and colleges mates and friends were read out during the service
After the funeral service, the mortal remains of Late K Taliakum Pongen was taken to his native village Aliba for burial. Earlier, a formal funeral service was also held at his residence at Kichutip ward in Mokokchung.
