Mokokchung, November 28: ‘Run Mokokchung,’ an initiative of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church (MTBA) with an aim to achieve not only physically fitness but also to pray for Mokokchung and spread awareness among the people to lead a spiritual life, was launched by Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger, Executive Secretary of ABAM at Police Point here on Monday.
Run Mokokchung is not a one-day running event but a continuous programme, where volunteers will gather at MTBA every Monday and Thursday at 5:30 a.m. and hold prayer session at important landmarks.
MTBA had invited volunteers to participant in the Run Mokokchung programme by registering their name and avail T-shirts during the gathering for the big run.
Today’s launching programme was attended by more than fifty volunteers including pastors, church workers, and youth from different fellowships under MTBA.
The participants commenced their run from Police Point via- Imkongmeren Sports Complex- DC Hills and culminated at MTBA. During the cross run, the participants also haul at strategic points and had prayer sessions.
Earlier, Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger, in his address, lauded MTBA for initiating the programme and also to the volunteers, who have gathered with a purpose for running, prayer and spread awareness.
He also encouraged the volunteers saying, “If you want to go fast- go alone but if you want to go far, go together.”
