WOKHA — Mt. Tiyi
College in Wokha on Thursday celebrated its golden jubilee at the college
premises on the theme "Ameliorate."
The event was attended by Temjen Imna Along, minister of
Tourism and Higher Education, as the special guest, while Mhathung Yanthan,
advisor of Agriculture, was the special invitee and MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe was
the chief patron.
Speaking on the occasion, Along praised the elders, past
leaders and teaching faculty both past and present for their dedicated efforts
in nurturing the college over the past five decades.
He congratulated the alumni association and the landowners
of the college and urged them to continue their contributions and services for
the institution's growth. He also called upon all stakeholders to unite in
pursuing for introduction of Science stream, noting that the college currently
offers Arts courses despite its 50 year history.
Along emphasised unity, growth and development and advocated
societal transformation through the pursuit of true knowledge. He highlighted
the college's journey, acknowledging the early difficulties and celebrating the
eminent leaders it has produced in various fields over the years.
He further encouraged the community to come together for the
progress of the college, aiming to prepare for its 100-year celebration in the
future.
Mhathung Yanthan reminisced about the college's humble
beginning and its journey over the past five decades. He praised the college
for shaping countless lives and contributing significantly to the community.
Yanthan acknowledged the visionary local leaders, who
established the institution despite challenging times and honoured the faculty
and staff for their tireless efforts in maintaining its legacy.
Besides, Yanthan emphasised the importance of community
engagement and urged continued support and contribution from all stakeholders.
He envisioned a future of enhanced academic excellence, infrastructural
development and global collaborations for Mt. Tiyi College.
Yanthan concluded by urging the students to dream big and
work hard, reaffirming the collective commitment to the transformative power of
education.
Jubilee greetings were delivered by Chubatola Longkume,
former principal; Dr. K C Murry, former principal and V Lovitoly Sema, joint
secretary of Higher and Technical Education, and Hachio Patton, PRO to deputy
chief minister, Y Patton.
The inauguration of jubilee memorial park and unveiling of
the plaque were done by MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, while the unveiling of the
golden jubilee monument was done by Temjen Imna Along. The jubilee souvenir and
memento were unveiled by Mhathung Yanthan.
The event was attended by alumni members, faculty, students
and members of the local community.
