
Dimapur, Aug. 30 (EMN): The MSME Development and Facilitation office, Dimapur, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in association with District Industries Centre and Business Association of Nagas (BAN), organised one-day entrepreneurship awareness programmes at Tseminyu and Wokha on August 29 and 30, respectively.
Speaking as the chief guest at the programme held at Tseminyu, DC Tseminyu, Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi, said that he aspires the recently created district to be developed as a model district and a business hub. The DC said the MSME sector is very important as it contribute more than 29% to the GDP and also responsible for 50% of the country's total exports. Chusi said entrepreneurs need to build their profiles to meet the criteria and avail schemes offered by the MSME ministry.
He also said that Nagas have to be responsible borrowers and repay loans on time.
The inaugural address and briefing on MSME schemes was presented by Joint director, MSME-Development Institute, Taliwati Longchar. Others who spoke during the programme included functional manager, district industries centre, Y Intsangju Sangtam, SBI branch manager, Tseminyu, BS Anaal, president of Kechye block level federation, Runosin Khing and BAN executive member, Tronglichem Sangtam, it stated.
Addressing the entrepreneurship awareness programme at Wokha, BAN president, L Mongkum Jamir, said for an economy to grow, there are four things of utmost importance, namely infrastructure, labour force, conducive environment and financial institutions.
Jamir said BAN has a skilled team and is working collectively in trying to pave the way for aspiring entrepreneurs. He advised the entrepreneurs to fully utilise the benefits of MSME schemes. He also advised the entrepreneurs not to waste time thinking what do but rather to start doing things right away.
Others who spoke during the programme included Joint director, MSME-Development Institute, Taliwati Longchar, inspector of Industries DIC, Visakhole Naki, lead district manager SBI, C Yanthan, inspector of Industries, DIC Bhandari, Mhabemo Kithan and executive member BAN, Kedo Nagi, it stated.
The Business Association of Nagas (BAN) launched its district chapters in Tseminyu and Wokha on August 29 and 30 respectively, informed an update from BAN.
“The association has long felt the need for installation of district chapters so as to connect with Naga entrepreneurs throughout the state. Zukeya Woch was appointed district convenor of Tseminyu chapter and Thungdemo Kyong was appointed district convenor of Wokha chapter,” it stated.
The district chapters will comprise of five coordinators representing services, manufacturing, agriculture, education and trading sectors.
The launch programme in Tseminyu was held at the Rengma Hoho office conference hall. Yhunthonlo Khing, pastor, Tseminyu Town Baptist Church offered the dedicatory prayer for the district chapter. In Wokha, the launch programme was held at Tourist Lodge where the Nongothung Kikon, associate pastor, Wokha Village Baptist Church offered the dedicatory prayer.
BAN team led by president L Mongkum Jamir was present at the launching programme in Wokha. In Tseminyu, the launching event was attended by BAN general secretary, Dr. Yan Murry, along with BAN office bearers and executive members, it stated.
