
DIMAPUR — The second MS Ahluwalia Memorial Basketball Tournament kicked off on Oct. 26 at the JV Foundation basketball court at Signal Angami, Dimapur.
A total of 19 teams including 14 men’s and five women’s are vying for the trophy, organised by Dimapur District Basketball Association (DDBA), an update stated.
Imchenchang Imchen, vice president of DDBA, in his welcome address, said that “Basketball is more than just a game. It is a symbol of passion, determination, teamwork, and unity. It brings together individuals from all walks of life, transcending boundaries and fostering a sense of friendship. It teaches us important life lessons - resilience in the face of adversity, the value of hard work, and the joy of achieving goals both individually and as a team.”
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Bendang Lemtur, IGP (Retd.), Nagaland Police, the special guest, mentioned that Late MS Ahluwalia, a veteran and distinguished Air Force officer, was a man of few words, hardworking and a disciplined man.
“Keeping in mind what Late Ahluwalia was, this tournament should live up to that expectation,” Lemtur said.
