Imphal, Feb. 8: Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) A team bagged the champions trophy of the 32nd N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament by defeating their opponent Khurai Polo Club by 6-5 goals in their thrilling final match played at the historic Mapal Kangjeibung, the oldest polo ground in the world on Wednesday. H Abung Khuman of MPSC-A made a splendid performance in the match and emerged as the highest scorer with 3 goals while his colleague S Bimol Singh scored the other goals for the team. On the other hand O Roger Singh and L Thompson Singh scored the goals for Khurai Polo Club.
Earlier, Commissioner (YAS and Art and Culture) H Deleep Singh graced the closing function as the chief guest while President S Budhachandra Singh of Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA), Director Dr H Chaoba Singh of state Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and Naorem Ongbi Sanatombi Devi as the guests of honour respectively.
The champion MPSC-A team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 40,000 with trophy, t-shirt and certificates while the runners-up team Khurai Polo Club received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 with trophy, t-shirt and certificates. It may be noted that the tournament, which began on January 28 was organised by the MHRPA.
