Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio on Thursday expressed deep sorrow and shock over the untimely demise of social worker and peace activist Late Grinder Muivah, who passed away in New Delhi this morning.
In a condolence message, the MP said, “It is difficult to comprehend that just a few days ago we had met each other in Delhi and he was in good health.”
Rio said, Late Grinder was a social worker, a humanitarian, a peace activist and a fine gentleman.
“In all my interactions with him, he expressed the utmost concern for achieving permanent peace, which would bring about progress and prosperity for all Nagas. He was a proud Naga and did everything he could to uphold the Naga honour and pride. He tirelessly worked for peace understanding and brotherhood. He sincerely believed that peace can be achieved through negotiations and an honourable democratic process. He had faced great hardship and made significant sacrifices in his search for peace and in his steadfast principal of upholding the rights of his people.”
Acknowledging his contribution towards the Indo-Naga peace process, Rio said Grinder will be remembered forever with fond memories. “His demise is a great loss for our society and the vacuum created by his passing away will be impossible to fill.”
Conveying condolences and sympathies on behalf of the Naga Forum New Delhi, to which Grinder was a participating and contributing member, Rio said, ” In the demise of late Grinder, I have lost a personal friend and a close person who always gave me sound advice on all issues concerning the welfare of the people. My family members join me in conveying our deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and pray to Almighty God to let the departed soul rest in eternal peace.”
