MP Jamir urges Centre to restore Air India Express flights
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir has urged the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, to restore the suspended Air India Express services connecting Bengaluru, Kolkata, Guwahati, Dimapur and Imphal.
In a letter to the Union minister, Jamir said the Delhi–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur Air India Express service has remained suspended for nearly a year, causing considerable inconvenience to travellers from Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.
He further pointed out that Air India Express discontinued its Bengaluru–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur service from August 1, 2026, further reducing air connectivity to the Northeast.
According to the MP, the suspension has placed an additional burden on students, patients, business travellers, government officials and the general public who depend on these routes.

Jamir urged the Ministry of Civil Aviation to take immediate steps to restore the suspended Air India Express services or facilitate operations by another airline on the same sector connecting Bengaluru, Kolkata, Guwahati, Dimapur and Imphal.
He said the restoration of these services would significantly improve connectivity and ease travel for citizens across Assam, Nagaland and Manipur while strengthening regional air links in the Northeast.
Appealing on humanitarian grounds, Jamir requested the Union Civil Aviation Minister to accord the matter top priority and ensure the earliest possible restoration of the affected air services in the larger public interest.
