The 3rd Graduation Day of Mount Mary College was held today at Mission Compound, NPBCA, Chumukedima Village, with the Vice- Chancellor Nagaland University, Professor BK Konwar as the chief guest.
BK Konwar said out of the 45 lakh graduating students every year, only 25% are employable while the remaining 75% remain unemployed because of the modern technology that requires only skilled employees.
Speaking as chief guest, BK Konwar said Nagas should understand the prospect of employment problems in the state with no industries despite the state surrounded by minerals. He said there is no way Nagaland can become an employable state if the available minerals are not made use of. He said the society will prosper only with hard work and dedication.
Speaking during the graduation programme, the chief guest said there are 4 groups of people in a society- criticizers, Advisers, wise and hardworking. The Vice Chancellor advised all the graduating students present to become one of the hard work achievers who can do something for the society.
He said ‘you must have confidence and conviction if you want to succeed.’ He also advised the students to inculcate ‘dignity of labour’ without any shame while citing that doing any kind of developmental work is not at all shameful.
Principal, Mount Mary College, C Teeya Imsong, in his welcome speech, advised the graduating students to face the realities of life with a positive attitude. He also counseled the students to set aside the needs and expectations of friends and families while chasing their dream. He advised them to ‘live a life you decide’.
The college offers both Arts and Commerce stream with honors.
Altogether 98 students graduated from the college.
